Weekend Road Trip

Peebles Island State Park: Peebles Island State Park is a short, 15 minute drive from Troy, NY and is located where the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers converge. In the summer this destination is an ideal location for picnics, family gatherings, white rapid rafting, and fishing excursions. In the winter, Peebles Island State Park offers cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking options.

Pittstown State Forest: 35 minutes northeast of Troy, Pittstown State Forest is a haven for the hiking enthusiast. The terrain is diverse and magnificent, with over 1,150 acres of untouched state forestland. This destination offers over 5 miles of hiking trails seated at the base of the Rensselaer Plateau. Don’t forget you camera on this daytrip!

Battlekill River: Battlekill River is less than an hour away from Troy, NY and is one of New York’s best summer experiences. Troy Night Out
Troy Night Out is a Monthly Arts and Cultural Event that Takes Place the Last Friday of Every Month in Downtown Troy from 5 – 9pm.
The event regularly draws over 1,000 people onto the streets of Troy, and attendees are able to enjoy over 30 art events, 15 music venues, and over 20 fine restaurants as well as unique boutiques of all varieties.

Oakwood Cemetery
For a good fright night, head down to Oakwood Cemetery. This legendary graveyard is said to be one of the most haunted in the nation, and the architecture is worth marveling.

Larkfest is New York’s largest street festival, and has been voted as the “Best Arts Event” in the capitol region for four consecutive years. Bringing in more that 80,000 attendees, this festival corrals local and regional bands, great food, and endless entertainment for all ages.

Troy Pig Out
The Troy Pig Out is an annual BBQ extravaganza in downtown Troy. The smell of barbequed ribs, brisket, and chicken is accompanied by family activities, live music, and a eye-catching firework finale.
